A group of injections in Taiwan have been contaminated and caused fever

Taiwan's "Food and Drug Administration" announced on the 18th that a number of "Yongfeng" physiological saline injections were contaminated with bacteria, and 8 patients had fever after injection. The “Pharmaceuticals Pharmacy” requires hospitals and clinics to urgently unload batch 273A79D products within 24 hours.

Chen Kexin, head of the "Pharmaceutical and Pharmaceutics Administration" drug group, pointed out that on the morning of the 18th, he received a report from a hospital in the north that "Yongfeng" physiological saline (20mL) (lot 273A79D) had unexplained fever after the patient's use and went to the ward for random inspection. Among them, two of them have been cultured with gram-negative bacilli commonly found in the environment, all of which are of the same batch number and are suspected of microbial contamination.

The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine said that there were 1088 boxes in the same batch, 50 boxes in each box, and a total of 54 400 cigarettes, which flowed to major hospitals and pharmacies.

According to reports, patients with fever have undergone treatment. The current condition is stable. The "Food and Drug Administration" has started the recovery of the batch of drugs. The manufacturer is required to immediately notify the medical institutions and the pharmacy to remove them within 24 hours and recover them before the 29th.

Chen Kexin said that it is not clear whether the problematic salt water is contaminated in the production process or caused by improper use of medical personnel. The toxicity of this bacteria to the average person is not high, but it may be harmful to frail patients.
