Test Method We used a Brookfield DV3THB rheometer with RheocalcTM software for automatic control and data acquisition. We placed the sample in a 600 ml beaker and tested it at 70-72 °F at room temperature. Use an HB-3 rotor immersed in its immersion mark. Three trials were performed to ensure repeatability. Each test is performed on a new part of the sample. The representative data from the analysis in Figure 1 shows that the viscosity of the dishwasher detergent decreases as the shear rate increases. This property is called "shear thinning". The results measured over the shear rate range are within the range and are between 10 and 100% of full-scale torque. Please note that these three curves overlap and show good repeatability.

Test Methods Small sample adapters can be used with a variety of Brookfield viscometers and rheometers. In the application example, we used a Brookfield DV3THA rheometer with RheocalcTM software for automatic control and data acquisition. The water bath jacket of the small sample adapter was immersed directly into the Brookfield TC-550AP programmable cooling water bath to maintain the test temperature at 25 °C.
Three different samples were tested to ensure repeatability. A 10.4 ml sample was taken with a syringe and injected into the sample cup. A small sample adapter is a valuable accessory, especially if you want to perform a first test method with a sample that is much smaller than the required sample size.
Figure 2 shows representative data from the analysis results.

Test Method We used a Brookfield DV3TRV rheometer with EZ-YieldTM software for automatic control and data acquisition. The yield stress test determines the stress that is required to cause the material to flow. The corresponding apparent yield strain is a deformation where the sample structure breaks up and begins to flow. The sample was extruded from the bottle and squeezed into a 250 mL beaker for testing. Immerse the paddle rotor into the main immersion mark. The paddle rotor is immersed in a new part of the sample for each test. Figure 3 shows the stress (Pa) and apparent strain (rad) of the dishwasher detergent at 1 RPM. The hardness or firmness of the material is reflected in the slope or steepness of the stress-strain curve. The yield stress is the maximum stress (about 37 Pa) produced in each run. The results can be repeated.
