A few days ago, many domestic cities encountered heavy haze weather. Some farmers contacted us to inquire: What are the impacts of severe haze weather on livestock and poultry growth? What should you watch out for in feeding management? The reporter interviewed the breeding experts.
Pig farm to strengthen disinfection
Professor Yin Zongjun of Animal College of Anhui Agricultural University said that the impact of haze weather on pigs is mainly in three aspects: insufficient light, affecting food intake and breeding; poor air quality, affecting ventilation; decreasing ultraviolet light and increasing pathogens.
Against the above hazards caused by hazy weather, Yin Zongjun made the following recommendations:
Strengthen pig house disinfection. At the same time as routine disinfection, the number of air sterilizations is increased to suppress the spread of pathogenic bacteria in the air. When disinfected, it can be sprayed, atomized or sprayed with a hot mist or fumigated. The common feature of disinfectants is that they have great harm to humans and animals. Formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde are inexpensive and effective. It is a good choice in the current situation.
For the piggery, the humidity is different and it should be handled at any time. In the foggy days, the air is high in humidity; when it is in the sky, the air is dry. The relative humidity of the pig house is required to be between 50% and 70%. Below 40% of the air is too dry and dust in the air increases. In the case of low temperature and high humidity, the pig's daily weight gain can be reduced by 36%, and the weight gain per kilogram can be increased by 10%. Therefore, when the air humidity is high, dehumidifiers such as quicklime, desiccant, charcoal, etc. should be properly used to control the frequency and water consumption of the piggery.
Proper ventilation
As far as the pig house is concerned, the chicken house (except for free-range chicken) is closed, and ventilation is particularly important. According to Xia Lunzhi, a researcher at the Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the biggest threat to chickens is the proneness to respiratory diseases.
In addition to ventilation, in order to avoid inducing chicken respiratory diseases, Sharon also made the following recommendations:
Use vitamins to enhance chicken immunity. If smog is injected into chickens with Newcastle disease vaccine during this time, adding sufficient amount of vitamin A can enhance the immune effect. Under the stress and stress conditions such as high temperature, cold, transportation, etc., vitamin C is properly added to chickens, which can reduce the reaction to a certain extent.
Reduce the humidity in your home. Minimize unnecessary spraying, watering, and disinfection without chicken. In addition, the experts also reminded farmers that, under hazy weather, the stocked chickens must be housed in their homes to minimize outdoor activities.
Cattle and sheep reduce grazing times
Zhu Dejian, an expert from the Animal Husbandry Institute of the Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said that haze can easily cause diseases in the meat, beef and sheep's respiratory system. Therefore, do not grazing during severe haze. In the winter season, cattle and sheep will be fed. During the feeding period, in addition to guaranteeing the hay and concentrate feed for cattle and sheep, it is also necessary to increase the movement of cattle and sheep. In the absence of fog, sunny days should try to allow the cattle and sheep to go out in order to enhance their fitness and improve their vitality.
