Interpretation of Medtronic's fiscal fourth quarter financial report

Medtronic recently released its preliminary financial report for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2015 (as of April 24, 2015). The financial report showed that the initial revenue for the quarter was 7.302 billion US dollars, compared with 7.257 billion US dollars in the same period last year. This is the first quarter to include the performance of the acquired Kehui. The preliminary financial report showed that Medtronic’s US market revenue for the quarter was approximately $4.055 billion, up 8% year-on-year. In the developed markets outside the United States, revenue for the quarter was approximately $2.32 billion, up 5% year-on-year. Emerging market revenues for the quarter were approximately $927 million, up 11% year-on-year, accounting for approximately 13% of the company's total revenue.

According to the business group, the cardiovascular business group's quarterly revenue was about 2.596 billion US dollars, up 10% year-on-year; the minimally invasive treatment business group (formerly Ke Hui) revenue was about 2.285 billion US dollars, up 6% year-on-year; The recovery therapy business group's revenue for the quarter was about 1.854 billion US dollars, up 5% year-on-year; the diabetes business group's quarter revenue was about 467 million US dollars, up 8% year-on-year.
