Herbs perennial, 10 to 25 cm tall. Basal leaves are broadly heart-shaped or ovate, 7 to 15 cm long, 8 to 10 cm wide, apex obtuse, corrugated sparsely serrate edges, serrated apex often reddish. The heart of the base forms a circle with a thick mass, smooth and dark green on the top and dense white hair below; palmately reticulate veins, 5–9 main veins; petiole length 8–20 cm, semicircular; leaf veins and petioles near the base Reddish and hairy. Cultivated or wild in riversides and sandy areas.

China is located in North China, Northwest China, Southwest China, Henan, Hubei, Tibet and other provinces (autonomous regions). All over China have been introduced into cultivation. Mainly produced in Henan, Shaanxi, Sichuan and Hubei provinces.
